Learning Center Mechanical Engineering

Lernzentrum Maschinenbau

What is the Study Hall?

The Study Hall (in german: Lernzentrum Maschinenbau, shortcut: LZMB) is open for all students of the TU Darmstadt.

The room L3|01-99 is one of the three rooms provided by the mechanical engineering departement open for students who need a place to work or study for exams. We also have a small reference library and collection of exams designed for all students of mechanical engineering and industrial engineering with the specialization on mechanical engineering. Furthermore there are bulletins for bachelor- and master thesis, internships and other offerings at the university.
For departments, institutes and companies we forward appropriate offers to the student.

We welcome everyone who is interested in a quiet working atmosphere. The room itself is open 24/7.

Borrowing conditions

Exams and minutes of memory are only lend in exchange for a valid photo identification.
They have to be returned the same day!

We only offers a reference library so you are not allowed to take the books outside of the room. However you can use those books at the Study Hall. You need to deposit a valid photo identification at the service desk as well.

Services provided

Amongst other we own minutes of memory and file folders with written exams which you can loan in exchange for a valid photo identification and copy them. They have to be returned the same day!

We provide a copier to copy the minutes of memory and written examinations. It operates with your Athene-Card. Besides this it is able to scan onto an USB-Devise or an email-account and print data from a capable USB-Device. The fees per copy are as follows:

  • DIN A4, b/w: 0,03 Euro
  • DIN A4, Color: 0,20 Euro
  • DIN A3, b/w: 0,08 Euro
  • DIN A3, Color: 0,50 Euro

A detailed manual is posted on the wall near the copier.

  • It is possible scanning to your USB-Device does not work. The copier only supports the file formats FAT 16 and FAT 32, not NTFS! Unfortunately it does not work off a special storage anymore.
  • Some email providers reject emails off a special size, so your scanned file will not attain.
  • You can only print files in PDF-format.

The reference library contains about 600 books to learn and look something up. They can be used during the opening hours oft the learning center On the Darmstädter Katalogportal (DAKAPO) you can look up which books we provide.

  • Choose „Mechanical Engineering (FB16)“ in „Catalogues / Fields of study views“ in the upper right corner
  • Deselect all departments catalogues using the red cross
  • Select „Mechanical engineering Learning Center
  • Now you can search our inventory using the search-field on the left side

Furthermore we provide a list with companies offering internships for mechanical engineers. Of course this listing is incomplete, but it can be extended if we get new information from you.

With great effort we made contact with about 200 companies in the field of mechanical engineering and related fields to get regularly new offers for internships, bachelor- and master thesis, assignments, diploma thesis and job offers. You will find the overwhelming result with nearly 100 offerings on our bulletin boards. Have a look at them, you should be able to find something suitable for you.
