Bio-Materials Engineering: Starting winter semester 2023/2024

2023/02/11

Starting in the winter semester 2023/2024, the new bachelor's degree program in Bio-Materials Engineering will begin at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Dear prospective students,

Starting in the winter semester 2023/2024, the new bachelor's degree program in Bio-Materials Engineering will begin at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This is an interdisciplinary course of study between mechanical engineering, materials science, biology and chemistry with a focus on biofunctional materials, materials from sustainable raw materials and bio-composite materials. After graduation, both a consecutive English-language master's degree program in Bio-Materials Engineering and a transfer to other master's degree programs (e.g. mechanical engineering) are possible. Further information on the Bio-Materials Engineering program can be found here.

If you are a mechanical engineer and want to try Bio-Materials Engineering in winter semester, you can take Biobased Materials as an additional course. For the “Interdisciplinary Project Work” you can have the emb credited. If you like Biobased Materials you can then enroll in Biomaterials in December, whether as an additional course or to transfer, and then just continue as a Biomaterials student.
