Orientiation- and Initiationweek

The Orientation and Introductory Week (OE) is intended to make it as easy as possible for you to begin and to prepare you well for your further studies.

The students council of Mechanical an Process Engineering give you a good start!

All useful information about enrollment, administrative issues and the orientiation- and initiationweek (german: Orientierungs- und Einführungswoche, OE) are summarized here.

The OE, your first week of studies, is organized by the student council of mechanical engineering and you can always feel free to contact us with your questions! During the OE you'll learn everything you need to know about university, how to study successfully and you will get in touch with your peers.

What is the student council of Mechanical and Process Engineering?

We are the representational body of all students of the mechanical engineering department at the TU Darmstadt. You will learn more about us during the OE and you can look around at our website.

Up until the begin of the winter semester 2021/2022 on the 18th October, 2021 the information here will be constantly updated and upgradet so please check back regularly!

How to become a mechanical engineering student?

Application:

The application deadline is July 31, 2021.

The entire procedure runs online on the homepage of the TU Darmstadt for prospective students . Here you can find all information about required documents, forms, etc.

During the application process you have to choose the degree Bachelor and the subject Mechanical Engineering - Sustainable Engineering and no specialization!

You can only enroll in the Master's program if you have a Bachelor's degree.

The Mechanical Engineering - Mechanical and Process Engineering degree will no longer be offered as of this semester and will continue only for students already enrolled in it.

The Mechanical Engineering diploma program has not been offered since 2005.

Begin of studies:

Once all these hurdles have been cleared, your studies will begin in the first week of lectures on 18.10.2021.

During the first week of lectures, from 18.10.2021 to 22.10.2021, the hybrid orientation and introduction week (OE) will take place, during which you will be provided with all the important information you need to start your studies.

Due to the special circumstances this year and last year, TU Darmstadt has launched the website einfachsTUdieren. Here you can find a lot of important information and videos about the start of your studies.

We will provide you with the timetable for this first week in time at the top of this page.

The OU starts with a welcome by a representative of the university management and professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as by the Mechcenter and the student council.

Afterwards you will be divided into small groups. In your group, two students from a higher semester will give you a lot of important information about your further studies, such as the timetable, examination modalities, information about Darmstadt, housing, tips on books, scripts, etc. You will also get to know many fellow students. You will get to know many fellow students. Experience has shown that many of these acquaintances remain with you throughout your studies as study groups, friendships and contacts. )
